Preparing your skin for makeup

When it comes time to applying makeup, most people think that it is all about the foundation, the mascara, the eyeliner or the brow pen. In reality, it is what lies under the make up that will leave your skin looking fresh and radiant. Here are some easy to follow steps to consider before getting dolled up in the morning.

  1. Choose the right cleanser for your skin

Cleaning your skin with a cleanser that is right for your skin type is essential before applying any makeup. Whether you have dry, oily or combination skin, look for the right cleanser. If you have acne-prone skin, look for a cleanser with salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or tea tree oil to help keep those pimples at bay.

  1. Cleanse your face

Wet your face then dispense a small amount of the cleanser you have chosen into your hands. Massage gently all over your skin for about 45 seconds, giving the cleanser time to work. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.

  1. Exfoliate your skin

Once or twice a week, you should exfoliate your skin while cleansing, to help get rid of any build up. You can exfoliate by using a washcloth while you’re using your cleanser, or you can use a scrub that you can by from the store.

  1. Apply an alcohol-free toner

The purpose of applying a toner is to wipe away any leftover dead skin cells, makeup or other bacteria your cleanser my have missed. It is an important part of your beauty routine and should not be missed.

  1. Consider a serum

If you are prone to dry skin, adding a serum to your routine can help add extra moisture to your face. Our Age Definer™ Serum was meticulously developed using only natural ingredients. A great choice for a healthy-looking skin.

  1. Apply Moisturizer

Choose the right moisturizer for your skin type and time of day. In the morning, apply a lighter cream that includes SPF 15 to protect your skin from the sun. At night, apply a thicker cream before your go to bed. Our Age Definer™ Moisturizer is a perfect choice.

  1. Prime your skin

Try misting your face with rose water. Makeup artists believe a splash of rose water can help you achieve the glowing skin we all want. After misting, let dry before moving on to the next step.

  1. Choose a primer

Choosing the right primer for your skin type will prepare it for anything that you are going to apply. If you suffer from acne and have redness, a light green primer will help counteract the irritation. Apply the primer all over your face and use a concealer brush to gently dab it on to the area.

  1. Apply makeup as usual

Now that your skin is properly prepared and cared for, you can apply your makeup as you normally would. The more you prepare your skin, the better it will look and last.
